And the hike goes on….. and on….

Another mile from the top of the Falls is Yosemite Point.  A footbridge took us over the falls, just where the creek falls over the rim.  Then another uphill climb mostly over open rocks (Amy was good at finding the trail markers (ducks) along the trail) got us to Yosemite Point and a great view!  We ate our lunch here and met up with Charley (he had completed his extra ten miles to El Capitan and was ready to join us for more).

Some scenery shots from Yosemite Point.

We still have about 10+ miles to go….

After Yosemite Point, we were very alone on the trail… and it was very long.  More uphills than we were expecting.  About 5:00 pm, we finally came upon a sign that said we had 6.1 miles to go…..we thought, no problem!  We knocked off over 2.5 miles in the next hour, and then we hit the steep downhill switchbacks!!  Grueling footwork and rocks that we thought would never end.  Everyone was getting rather tense... so I didn't get many photos for awhile.  It was after 7:00 when we finally got to the bottom of the switchbacks, and came upon a sign that said we still had 1.5 miles to go to get to Mirror Lake!!   Amy was not happy when she saw the sign about the 1.5 miles... but that's with Charley's photos.  Along with the photo of the deer we saw near the sign.
Still have about 1.5 miles to walk back to the campsite… but tacos and beer are waiting!

But we finally made it…!  And Charley and Brooke are even smiling in front of Mirror Lake.

Success!  Back at the Campsite!  16 miles, 13 hours for Amy, Brooke, and Nancy.  24.4 miles, 14 hours for Charley!!

Ready to hike again on Saturday…??  Yep, Glacier Point!
